*Please unload and debag all yard/tree waste and bring all bags/containers home.
*Even paper or other compostable bags need to be debagged and brought home.
*Reusable alternatives to bags that work well are plastic garbage cans or tarps.
Compost and mulch will not be available for purchase December through March. April through November, mulch and screened compost may be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis (non-commercial use only). Materials must be loaded into an open bed truck and/or trailer. For safety reasons, residents are not allowed to load any of the purchased materials. Contact sites directly for product availability.
When available, unscreened compost is free to Anoka County residents. Be sure to bring your own containers and shovel and you must be able to load yourself.
State law prohibits putting brush, tree and yard waste in your garbage, (Minnesota Statutes § 115A.931). “Yard waste” includes garden wastes, leaves, lawn cuttings, weeds, shrub and tree waste, and prunings. Your garbage hauler may offer separate yard waste collection services.
Mulching naturally fertilizes and strengthens the lawn to make it more resistant to disease. Simply mow and leave the clippings where they lay. No cost, no bagging, no hauling.
In addition to curbside pickup of garbage and recyclables, your garbage hauler may offer curbside pickup of yard waste.
A Dirty Load consists of materials blended together that need to be manually/mechanically separated before being processed. For example: a load of mulch mixed with dirt and rocks.
